tableaux africains

j’ai voulu reproduire ce tableau qui a été crée par quelqu’un d’autre car je l’ai trouvé particulièrement joli d’où son nom “maridadi” (joli, beau). j’ai bien sûr ajouté ma touche personnelle pour ne pas faire exactement comme son createur.

I decided to copy this painted which was originally painted by someone else because i found it very smart. that’s why i called it “maridadi” (meaning “smart”). i of course did some slight modifications so as not to have it too identical to the original one.

ce tableau est presque le même que Johari sauf qu’on n’a pas mis le cadre et le village est beaucoup plus grand (plus de cases)! c’est pour cela que je l’appel Johari 2 car il est tout aussi apprécié!

this painting is almost the same as johari only that there is no “frame” and the village is bigger (there are more huts. that is why i called it johari 2 because it is as appreciated as johari.

j’ai nommé ce tableau “nini” (c’est quoi) parce que toutes ces dames dans le tableau ont le regard fixé vers la même direction et on ne sait pas …(moi je le sais mais vous non) ce qu’elles regardent!

i named this painting “nini” ( what is it) because the ladies on it are all facing one direction but no one knows (no one apart from me of course!) what is it that they are looking at!

Ce tableau est l’image d’un bout d’un village africain, c’est pour cela que je l’ai nommé “jiji” (village)

This painting is a portrait or a part of an african village, that’s why i named it “jiji” (meaning village)

Je suis née à Nairobi au Kenya. C’est là-bas que j’ai grandi, fait ma scolarité et travaillé en tant que secrétaire et aussi assistante administrative. Mon rêve depuis ma tendre enfance était de peindre un jour, mais faute de moyens, je ne pouvais pas faire une école de beaux arts. J’ai alors abandonné  ce rêve  et me suis orienté vers les linguistiques et notamment l’apprentissage de la langue et culture françaises. En 1997 , je suis venue en France pour faire mon séjour  linguistique et par la suite je me suis mis dans les études du commerce avec une spécialisation en commerce international (branche Transport International).  J’ai pu travailler dans ce domaine au canada ou j’ai séjourné pendant presque deux ans. La venue de mes enfants m’a poussé à faire le choix de rester à la maison et de m’en occuper. C’est alors que je me suis mis au cours de peinture. Un jour, mon mari me dit « ce serait bien que tu essaie de faire des tableaux africains. N’ayant ni de connaissances théoriques ni d’expérience, j’ai hésité mais pas pour longtemps … j’ai commencé à peindre les portraits de femmes Masai et ce que je faisais me plaisait et me plait encore énormément.  Mon amour pour mon pays et pour les Masai m’a porté et me porte encore. J’espère que tous ceux qui se procureront un ou plusieurs de mes tableaux découvriront et apprécieront la culture et traditions de mon pays et de mon peuple.  Je remercie mes parents, ma famille et mes amis pour leur amour et encouragements. Des remerciements spéciales à mon mari et mes enfants qui croient en moi et m’encourage quotidiennement à aller de l’avant et réaliser pleinement mes rêves ! 

About me

I was born in Nairobi Kenya. It is there where I grew up, completed my studies and worked as a secretary as well as an administrative assistant. My dream since my tender childhood was to do painting some day. I didn’t have the means to go to a fine art school and so I gave up this dream and did linguistics, specializing in teaching French as a foreign language. In 1997 I came to France for a linguistic stay and after one year I started studying commerce, specializing in international commerce (International transport branch). I worked in this field in Canada where I stayed for almost two years. The arrival of my children obliged me to become a housewife in order to take good care of them.  Shortly after I stopped working I started taking painting lessons.  One day, my husband asked me to try doing African paintings, and after a short hesitation, I began painting portraits of Masai women. I really enjoyed it and I still do. My love for my country and for the Masai people is my greatest source of inspiration! I hope that all the peope who get one or more of my paintings will discover and appreciate the culture and traditions of my country and my people. I thank my parents, my family and my friends for their love and support. A special thanks to my husband and kids for believing in me and encouraging me to fully realize my dream.

Subira est un mot  swahili qui veut dire “patience” car il m’a fallut beaucoup de patience pour peindre ce tableau.

“Subira” is a swahili word meaning “patience”. i named this painting subira because i had to be very patient before obtaining the final results.
